Angus Mackenzie joined Maurice Blackburn's employment and industrial law section in 2018. With extensive experience acting for trade unions and employees across all aspects of employment and industrial law, Angus's achievements include:

  • acting for a trade union in obtaining a multi-million dollar result in an enterprise agreement interpretation dispute in the Federal Court;
  • successfully defending an application to terminate an enterprise agreement in the Fair Work Commission;
  • successfully defending a trade union and its officials against an application for an interlocutory injunction restraining publication of a union newsletter; and
  • negotiating favourable exit packages for a wide range of senior executive employees.

Skilled in oral and written advocacy, Angus is passionate about his area of law and works to ensure clients have their rights vindicated. His experience representing employers in a previous role affords him a unique, strategic viewpoint when representing employees.

"Industrial and employment law is one of the most distinctive and complex areas of law in Australia. It has shaped Australia’s constitutional history. It’s also people-focused. Nearly every dispute in employment law begins or ends with a face-to-face discussion between real people," says Angus.

Angus has written on the topic of protection for employee complaints and inquiries in our newsletter
